Turns out I bought this on Black Friday, but actually I bought it returning from the airport after 4 days in Los Angeles, CA with my brother for thanksgiving. We went to Disneyland for Thanksgiving day, not a bad deal but I feel like I got run over by a Disney ad campaign (bring your gas mask if you do the “autopia” ride, CA emissions test hasn’t touched that ride). It has VGA input.. So yes it does.. Actually digital video is always better than analog on these sets, because what they really are: lcd computer monitors with analog to digital converters. Computer monitors for years have exceeded HD quality… I have a IBM monitor, about 21″ display that has refresh rates up to 120hz, (four times that of NTSC) at resolutions up to 1280×1024. And if I reduce the refresh to 60hz, I can get something like 2200×1600 which exceeds the maximum HDTV quality.

Out of curiosity, does anyone use this as a computer monitor as well? I’m looking to buy this TV to double as my bedroom TV (IE - my only TV) and an external monitor for my netbook. I saw a comment somewhere saying the picture for this TV was not clear unless you were at least 4 feet away. Any truth to that? I’m hoping that’s a bullshit comment. :]

Considering that practically all the HDTV’s are made in China, I don’t know if you can really determine what is a good brand. I’d get a warranty if you are concerned, but I haven’t had any problems with this monitor so far.

yes,hdmi is aparently the best quality and aslong as you dont have a dolby 5.1 surround sound then you wont need any extra cables. i havnt checked the hdmi input on this tv as my xbox doesnt support it and when i plug my computer into it via hdmi it flashes(computer-tv compatibility i guess) but i know that with vga cables it looks amazing!! the component inputs are junk but the hdmi ports should be ok. if you ask i can make a video review of it, actualy il do that now. il pm you when its done!

now there is one problem i had, if your using component cables there are like little white lines that run through the screen during blacks. but all i did was use a vga cable and that fixed it. plus vga looks way better than component. or use hdmi. and the speakers in it are ok but there only good for words and not sound affects. so get some surround sound thats what i did. its a great looking tv just as good as my friends samsung!
