Most stores will offer better deals on cheap no-name brands then they will on expensive brands. So it kind of depends on what you want. I don't recommend going for cheap brands as they are only built to last a year or two at best! Most no-name manufacturers don't even offer repairs on their TVs after the 1-year warranty is up! If you want a good brand of 42" that's going to last a long time and be trouble free, stick to brands from Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Sony, Sharp or Toshiba. Panasonic BTW is the most reliable and best performing brand of HDTV out there! I highly recommend their 42" LCD or Plasma TVs!
