Is the cheap end of the LCD TV market any good?

Makes that I never heard of until a few years ago, such as Logik, Technika (Tesco own brand?), and others that I can't remember off the top of my head. They're typically £100 cheaper than a Sony or Samsung, but are they £100 worse?
Is a CRT still better for normal digital TV than an LCD?
I'm talking mainly of sizes around 26" - 32".

only if you want to keep changing your TV every 12 months!!!

Big name brands LAST, Fact!

i dunno, i'd assume that logik is a good brand, (i think i've heard of them before), i know that it goes like this.. when you buy something, you're paying for the name. just like if you buy generic "adhesive strips" compared to band-aid "adhesive strips".

    i'd say go for it..

Compared to other brands, we just bought an LG 32" LCD for £399….we thought that was cheap and quite a good brand. Has built in freeview too=]

I'd recommend you stick to well known brands for TVs. Ok, you might save £100 by buying a TeknoTronik or whatever, but in reality you just wasting £400 of your hard-earned. I'd try to get the best deal on a Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic etc rather than buy a TV from a supermarket. What happens when it goes wrong? Who's going to fix it?
And you'll find it hard to get any CRT sets these days, although if you're not bothered about having the lastest thing, so long as it's got a built-in Freeview tuner, you can get a great set for not much money.

OK - all the companies on the list below produce cheap tat. It's cheap because it is poorly built, using inferior quality components.

This results in lousy picture, rotten sound and dodgy reliability. Remember, "Buy cheap, buy twice".

Have a look at the LG 32LT75 LCD it has twin Freeview digital tuners & a 160Gb hard drive so you can watch one channel while recording another, great picture too!
Shop around though as it's overpriced from some, I got the best deal from Dixons online!
