What is the safest way to transport a large flat panel tv?
I have just bought a 42" flat panel LCD from Circuit City and do not want to pay to have it delivered. I drive a Pacifica (crossover) and the only way it will fit inside is to lay it flat. Can I place it down on its back and do this safely without breaking the screen?
Make sure before you leave the store the TV is wrapped tightly in bubble wrap and then (as stupid as it sounds) lay it screen down as this has a more even surface area than the back of the unit where it can tilt and slide easier
I would think that putting it on the back would be fine, but that is only from my experience of moving computer LCD monitors. TV's are much larger and the stakes much higher. You know, you could ask Circuit City and see what they say?

I brought my 42" plasma home tilted 30 degrees in back of a SUV. It works just fine. But make sure you are easy over bumps/potholes and curves and TV fits snug with no jiggle room.
In best case, have it delivered.
