what’s the basic setup of a flat panel tv?

I will be purchasing two 32 inch flat screen televisions and I need to know the basic setup. What kind of cables to buy, etc. I am going to hookup two dvd/vcr to each tv so I need to know what cables and cords I would need to get the best picture possible. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
I want to add a soundbar also because i heard these tv’s don’t have great sound quality.

For HD tvs, the minimum cables necessary are component (red/green/blue) video and for your soundbar, get an optical cable to connect it to whatever as optical will carry surround.

If you are using older SD dvd/vcr they may not have component outputs, and if that is the case, you will need to upgrade as yellow/red/white cables carry only analog and don’t produce good quality pic on HD tvs.

Depending on the tv you choose, it will come with a number of cables. Best to wait until you get the set unboxed and see what you have, then figure out what you need.

In general though, the best outputs most DVD/VCR combo units have is component video. The component video / audio cable has Red/Green/Blue (y/pb/pr) for video and Red + White for audio.
