Bought this unit from Sears in June 2007, brought it home, set it up, worked fine, very satisfied. Did not buy extended warranty.
TV was in a home environment, not abused or used extensively. We are not heavy TV users, a few shows during the week, Saturday morning cartoons, not even daily users.
Eighteen months later, daughter is watching a DVD, TV goes black, totally inoperative. Take it to local Sharp authorized repair center, verdict is fried main board. New board $280, total $415 with labor. Call Sharp.usa Aquos Advantage support, ask is they can provide partial relief, i.e. pay for part cost. I felt major component should be more robust, eighteen months to failure is pretty short.
No deal, no sympathy for anything outside warranty. Will fix, but will consider more upscale brand for next purchase, also extended warranty, today's electronics apparently very fragile.
Pro : Nice looking, good image and sound
Con : Poor durability
