Burn-in is really not a serious problem anymore. Not only has the plasma technology advanged to where the display panel itself is more resistant to it, but all modern game systems have a burn-ion reduction system that will dim their video output after 10 minutes or so, and most decent-quality or better plasmas also have a feature you can turn on that will shift the image around an inperceptible amount to further prevent burn-in.

It’s still possible, but so long as you don’t buy a bottom-of-the-barrel plasma, any set on sale new today should be good enough that you’d almost have to try to burn-in the image to make it happen.

Yes, the Plasmas burn more then LCD’s there’s new OLED technology does not require backlight to function, draw far less power then LDCs and Plasmas also are lighter and can be made alot thinner also have a faster response time. All the diodes burn after time but it is aprox. 8-10 years that them tv will last

just like the first poster said, also, even when you leave it on too long, the image fades away after a while with all the newer plasmas

Yes. It is still bad. The images that stay still or are not moving can cause the screen to get black dots all over it, burning it out eventually

Image retention and burn-ins only occur when a single image is left on the television for a long period of time. I don’t think you have to worry about that as long as you turn the game system off when you’re done.
